Portwood Acres, located near the South Fork of the Shenandoah River between Port Republic and Lynnwood VA, is a small certified organic family farm where we live and work together milking cows, making cheese, growing vegetables and raising sheep.
The primary enterprise is a herd of 100% grass fed dairy cows. Most of the milk is processed and sold by Organic Valley. We also make raw milk cheese with a portion of the milk.
Our produce patch yields fall cole crops, i.e. broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, Romanesco, and Brussels sprouts. We are growing garlic this year and may grow sweet corn again in the future.
